Read on to learn about the major rework coming to the Trial of Chaos activity, what the Viridian Wildwood is all about, and the rewards you can obtain there. You will also discover new league challenges and how a Path of Exile 2 boost can help you quickly prepare your character for the endgame.
Path of Exile 2 Forbidden Rites Changes
The Forbidden Rites PoE 2 event league launched on September 4, 2026, introducing some changes to existing content. One such change is accelerated access to the Fortress. Now, upon completing the Arbiter of Divinity questline and clearing the Matriarch and Patriarch Halls, players can obtain the quest item – keys providing direct access to the empowered version of the Arbiter. Defeating him marks the entire Fortress as cleared and awards all associated Atlas passive points.
The Atlas has now been expanded to include Abyssal Ravines, which have a chance to spawn but become more difficult as you progress through them. At the very end of the chain lies the final, mandatory Abyssal Boss encounter. Valuable loot from Abyssal Ravines includes crafting consumables such as Omens, Abyss jewels and armor, and chase Uniques like Darkness Enthroned, Grip of Kulemak, and the Undying Hate Timeless Jewel.
Expeditions are now available to players starting from Act 4. Expedition Tablets now allow you to have both a Remnant and an Expedition active in the same zone simultaneously. Consequently, the reward pool has been slightly expanded, making running Expeditions significantly more profitable.
Forbidden Rites Mechanics

In the new event league, players will find Ritual encounters in every campaign zone; however, while progressing through the campaign, they can obtain currency, Unique items, and Omens. Additionally, Rituals spawn in such a way that, as you complete them from zone to zone, the final Ritual boss will appear near an existing one.
During the campaign, you can battle multiple bosses simultaneously; this not only speeds up the clearing process but also yields more loot. Additionally, upon completing the encounter, you can select a Unique item to receive as a guaranteed reward.
Once the campaign is complete, you can clear Rituals as part of a party to quickly farm currency, armor, and Omens together. If you want to finish the campaign or complete a specific number of Ritual runs quickly, you can use Path of Exile 2 services. The team of professionals at Boosthive is ready to guide you through every boss fight and help you efficiently farm any items you need.
Path of Exile 2 Trial of Chaos Rework
In Patch 0.5.5, Trial of Chaos underwent a major overhaul of its core mechanics, which we will now examine in detail. First and foremost, it is worth mentioning a quality-of-life improvement that allows players to leave the Trials between rooms without losing progress. The encounter selection mechanics have been reworked: they are now much more forgiving in the early stages, while the difficulty of high-level encounters remains unchanged.
To increase the challenge, improved scaling and Wager modifiers have been added, allowing you to boost the total number of rewards you can earn. Additionally, you can clear up to 30 rooms to further multiply your rewards, though the difficulty increases with each subsequent room.
Random Corrupted items are no longer included in the rewards; instead, only Soul Cores, orbs, and other currencies will drop. The Soul Cores themselves have been slightly tuned: some have received new effects, while others have been given numerical buffs. You can find the full list in the Path of Exile 2 database, PoEDB.
Path of Exile 2 Forbidden Rites Challenges

Challenges vary in difficulty, ranging from those you can complete during character progression to those that require dedicated grinding.
